Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees, herein referred to as Voices For Children, Inc. is organized exclusively for charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (or the corresponding provision of any future United States Internal Revenue law), including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The charitable purposes for which the corporation is organized and for which it will be operated include, without limitation, the following:
To provide well trained, objective, and enthusiastic volunteers to represent children adjudicated neglected, abused, or dependent and when deemed necessary to serve the best interests of an unruly or delinquent child in Lorain County, so that the Court does not have to rely solely on appointing paid attorneys for Guardian ad Litem (GAL) representation as authorized in ORC 2151.281.
CASA of Lorain County, GAL volunteers shall not be an employee of the court or related to any party in the proceedings, pursuant to ORC 2151.281 (B) (1).
CASA of Lorain County, GAL volunteers shall perform functions necessary to protect the best interest of the child, including, but not limited to investigation, mediation, monitoring court proceedings and services provided to the child by public children service agencies.
To educate the public regarding the community's responsibility for children, who are abused, neglected, dependent, unruly, or delinquent.
To be responsible for legal matters, financial oversight, ratification of corporate officers, general policy development, resource development and other matters pertaining to CASA of Lorain County.
To conduct business and administer CASA of Lorain County in a manner that does not support, oppose, or imply endorsement of any political party; and to not be under the control, direction, or influence of any political party.
To raise, receive and administer funds for the benefit of CASA of Lorain County.
To take and hold property, real and personal for the benefit of the corporation.
To plan and execute fundraisers for the corporation, said funds to be used exclusively to carry out the nonprofit purpose of the organization.
All other activities allowable by law.
